The Buell-Red Prairie Water District serves a community of 980 citizens in the rural mountainous region northwest of Salem, Oregon. The Electrical Engineer at Double ‘E’ Engineering, LLC worked with Civil Engineers from HGE, Inc. to develop controls for the new system. The new plant utilizes DAF pre-filtration with twin membrane ultra-filtration skids.
Approximately 4 miles from the closest 3-phase power, the Engineering staff had to work closely with Portland General Electric Engineers to monitor incoming power quality to stabilize the 3-phase, open-delta system. As a result of the detailed study, the Water District saved thousands of dollars in power line extension cost.
