A new main fire station for the City of Coos Bay is a certified LEED Gold project. It is equipped with five drive-through truck bays, thirteen dorm rooms, study, living and weight rooms. The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is equipped for complete audio and visual presentations. The 19,800 square foot fire station boast sustainable design, solar thermal hot water system and photovoltaic panels. During power outages, the entire facility is supported by an emergency generator. Electrical design and construction administration services for the $4.3 million facility were provided through HGE, Inc (Joe Slack, AIA).
